Five things a regulator should hear first.
The Microbiome Clinic website is for general information. It is not medical advice, it is not a diagnosis, and reading it does not make you our patient. Do not delay seeing a doctor because of something you read here.
Your health depends on your own history and circumstances. Only a registered medical practitioner who has consulted with you can advise you. If you are unwell, see a doctor. In an emergency call 000.
Some pages summarise published research on a condition and the microbiome. Those pages:
Serious conditions (including cancer, mental illness, inflammatory bowel disease, autoimmune and neurological conditions) require care from the appropriate specialist, as does any medical condition in a child. We do not offer testing as a route into care for those conditions. Our Kids and Baby tests describe a child's gut microbiome; they do not assess a child's medical condition. Our doctors may see patients who also have those conditions, and will refer where appropriate.
The tests we offer are laboratory tests processed by an Australian laboratory (NutriPATH), in four families: Gut, SIBO, Oral and Vaginal. A test result on its own is not a diagnosis.
Our Get Started quiz can suggest a test based on the symptoms you choose. It does not diagnose anything, and whether you go ahead with a test is your choice. Every quiz result also offers a discovery call (15 min · no charge · no obligation) if you would rather talk to us first.
Results go to you, the person who bought the test. If you would like them explained, you can book a consultation with one of our doctors.
We do not advertise prescription medicines, antibiotics or biologicals on this website, in line with the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 and the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code. Treatment options are discussed only at a consultation, where your doctor can explain benefits, risks and alternatives. Any reference to a therapeutic good on this site is descriptive or educational and is not a recommendation to use it.
We do not publish patient testimonials, stories, case studies, ratings, review counts or "as seen on" claims about our clinical services, and we ask patients not to post them on our channels. This follows s133(1)(c) of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law and Ahpra's advertising guidelines. If you see one on a channel we control, tell us and we will remove it.
Dr Paul Froomes is a Gastroenterologist (MBBS, FRACP). Our other doctors are registered medical practitioners. Registration can be checked on the Ahpra register. We do not describe a doctor by any title they are not registered to use.
We try to keep the site accurate and current but cannot promise it contains no errors. Links to other sites are for convenience and do not mean we endorse them. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
