Dr. Paul Froomes
BMedSci, MBBS, FRACP, MD
Dr. Froomes is a gastroenterologist with over 30 years of experience helping patients with complex gastrointestinal disorders. Trained at Monash University and the RACP, he has gone on to complete advanced training in endoscopy and oesophageal physiology, as well as a master’s degree in liver disease at the University of Melbourne.
Beyond his hospital work, Dr Froomes has dedicated his career to finding the root-causes of gut issues like IBS, reflux, and inflammatory bowel disease.
He co-founded The Microbiome Clinic™, a new age medical practice built to make his decades of learnings about the microbiome accessible to more patients and practitioners.
After seeing countless people struggle with conditions that didn’t improve under standard care, he recognised the need for a model that treats the root cause—imbalances in the microbiome—rather than just the symptoms.

Get answers to your questions and learn about our platform.
What makes your approach to IBS different from other doctors, specialists or naturopaths?
Our doctors are trained to treat the microbiome, combining medical expertise, prescribing rights, and access to advanced testing to uncover the root causes of your IBS.
Can IBS really be linked to the gut microbiome?
Yes, research shows IBS is often associated with gut dysbiosis — an imbalance between beneficial and harmful microbes — which can disrupt digestion, gas production, and bowel regularity.
How do you test for microbiome imbalances?
We use advanced DNA and breath testing to assess your gut microbiome composition and function. This gives us a detailed view of what’s driving your symptoms.
